This page is intended to show you how to operate the security module. You must have a deep understanding of how the MotilityAnywhere program works and how all the modules integrate to fully understand the permissions. For a more conceptual understanding, we recommend scheduling training time with a Motility Professional Service Consultant (additional fees may apply). Please contact Motility Training and Professional Services at training@motilitysoftware.com if you are interested.

Searching in Security Lists
You can filter any list in security using the magnifying glass in each column header. Simply click over the magnifying glass to expand an option menu.
This allows you to find results that match, contain, or is in some way relevant to your entry. You may enter up to two different criteria.
Create Security Group
- From any module, click the user icon in the upper right of the screen. This will open a menu.
- Choose the Settings option. This will open the settings screen.
- Select the Security Management tab.
- Choose the Groups button to open the security groups list.
- Choose the Add Groups button on the right side of the table header. This will open the New Group window.
- Enter a group name.
- Select whether this is a group for Full or Partial license users.
- If users assigned to this security group will use a specific scanner group, check the Scanner Group box.
- Click the create button. This will add the group you made to the list of security groups.
Assign Users to Group
Be careful putting a single user in multiple groups. Often a permission from one group blocks access to a process, screen, or field while the other group does not.
- Double-click over the new group to open the group's properties window.
- Click the Permissions button to open the list of permissions.
- Check each permission that you want to apply to the users that will be part of this group. You can narrow the permissions you see in the list by selecting a specific module or feature from the menu on the left side of the window. There are multiple types of permissions:
- Allowance – gives someone access to a process, screen, or field
- Restriction – restricts access to a process, screen, or field
- Read-Only – makes a screen or field visible, but not editable
- Click the save button when you are finished.
- Click the X in the upper right of the window. This will close the window and return you to the group properties window.
- Add users by selecting the Add button in the lower left. This will open a list of the users.
- Check the box for each user who you want to assign to the group.
- Click the save button. This will return you to the group properties window and display the added users in the list to the left.
Remove User From Group
- Click over the user you wish to remove in the group list on the left side of the group properties window. This will highlight the user.
- Click the Remove button. This will remove the selected user from the list.
Copy Group
- From any module, click the user icon in the upper right of the screen. This will open a menu.
- Choose the Settings option. This will open the settings screen.
- Select the Security Management tab.
- Choose the Groups button to open the security groups list.
- Locate the group that you wish to copy in the list and click the Copy button on the group's row. You will receive a popup window.
- Enter the new group's name.
- Click the Copy Group button.
Delete Security Group
- From any module, click the user icon in the upper right of the screen. This will open a menu.
- Choose the Settings option. This will open the settings screen.
- Select the Security Management tab.
- Choose the Groups button to open the security groups list.
- Locate the group that you wish to delete in the list and click the Delete button on the group's row. You will receive a popup window to confirm that you wish to do this.
IMPORTANT: If you choose to delete a security group that has users assigned, this may remove all permissions from the users. This can result in the users being unable to access screens or features in MotilityAnywhere that they need to perform their job. |
